VOLUNTEERING FAQ’S

The majority of our volunteer opportunities are during business hours from 8:30am-3:30pm. We do have event specific opportunities during our Gala planning period and the Winter Holidays.

In our Child Development Center we allow volunteers ages 15+. Generally for all other opportunities, we ask that volunteers are 18+. We do occasionally make exceptions on a case by case basis. If you have any questions regarding age, please email Community Partnerships Coordinator, Sam Maciel at samantha@womens-empowerment.org

We do have some opportunities for groups. For group volunteering inquiries please email Community Partnerships Coordinator, Sam Maciel at samantha@womens-empowerment.org

The majority of our volunteers are caring, supportive individuals who believe in our mission and are looking to pay it forward and make a difference. There sometimes are special requirements for specific volunteer areas, but we will inform you of those at the orientation.

This is done on a case by case basis. We may have some opportunities that may work for you, but do not assume you will be able to fill your hours at Women’s Empowerment. Contact us at samantha@womens-empowerment.org or 916.669.2307 ext 117.

Social Work Interns: We generally work with Social Work Students (MSW II) through CSU Sacramento. If you are qualified and interested in learning more about this opportunity please contact Social Worker, Meghan Garcia at meghan@womens-empowerment.org

If you think volunteering with Women’s Empowerment is right for you, here is how you can get started:

1. Attend a Volunteer Orientation. We require all volunteers to attend an orientation; it is an excellent way to get to know one another and establish the right volunteer fit among our many needs and opportunities. Volunteer Orientations occur in person at our facility, the next orientation is Wednesday, March 20th from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm. To sign up for a volunteer orientation, please email volunteers@womens-empowerment.org.
2. Complete the required volunteer information forms; these will be emailed with confirmation of volunteer orientation sign-up.

4. Sign Up For Opportunities! Once you have attended a volunteer orientation and completed the required information and agreement forms, you will be added to our volunteer email list and can sign up for volunteer opportunities as they are released.
If you’d like to find a group volunteer activity, please email samantha@womens-empowerment.org.
Our Next Volunteer Orientation will be held on Febuary 7th!
