Holiday Helpers' Guide

In response to the phone calls from many of you looking for ways to help in this current crisis, we’ve compiled this holiday helpers’ guide. The need may be greater than ever, but if we each help with a little, together we can accomplish a lot! Please spread the word to family and friends. The opportunities include:

Sponsor Graduation: Graduation is December 16. We need sponsors to cover two aspects:

1) lunch during the reception, which usually costs about $300 and consists of small sandwiches, side salads, chips, cake, drinks, napkins and paper plates--to feed about 200 people; and

2) professional tool kit for each graduate, which consists of a purse, watch, day planner, alarm clock, two bus passes, a note of congratulations, and sometimes a journal--it costs about $400-500 as we typically graduate between 25 and 30 women.

If you are unable to commit the time to this project, you can make a financial commitment and we’ll do the shopping for you.

Host a Stocking Drive: We need 250 stockings filled with warm hats, gloves, and other necessities. Please see our wish list for a complete list of needs.

Join a Tour & Bring Your Friends: Help us spread the message of our successful solution to those who can help. Tour dates, times, and details available here.

Volunteer to Spread Joy: Volunteer for one of our many November & December activities. Contact: Michelle at 916-669-2307 or michelle@womens-empowerment.org.

Purchase Jewelry by Lisa Silva: Assist homeless women and their children by shopping for beautiful, handcrafted jewelry Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Trisha's House & Yoga Room, located at 6311 9th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95820.  Wine and light snacks will also be served. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Women's Empowerment.

Take Jin Shin Jyutsu Classes: Help Women's Empowerment by learning Jin Shin Jyutsu.  Classes are taught by Beth Lendrum and will be held Saturday, November 21 at Trisha's Yoga Room (located at 6311 9th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95820), from 1:00pm to 2:30pm and 3:00pm to 4:30 pm.  Each class is $35, and you can choose to do one or both. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Women's Empowerment.
