Job Readiness & Empowerment

Job Readiness

Every woman carries great potential. In response to the unique needs of women experiencing homelessness we have developed a nine-week program with a focus on job-readiness, empowerment, support and health. Designed innovative and holistic approach ensures women break the cycle of homelessness for themselves, their children, and future generations.

Job-Readiness

Women and children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population. Helping each woman achieve self-reliance is the best long-term solution to this shocking fact. Employment is often a critical missing piece for many women trying to get back on their feet. To address this, Women’s Empowerment’s extensive job-readiness curriculum includes:

• Career mentoring
• Computer literacy
• Financial literacy
• Interviewing skills
• Job seeking skills
• Professional development
• Resume and cover letter building

Empowerment & Support

Homelessness is an isolating-experience. Women often experience a loss of self-esteem, confidence, and identity. Through empowerment and support services women reclaim their hope, strength, and place in the community. Women’s Empowerment’s support and empowerment services include:

• A lifetime support network of peers, staff, and volunteers
• Education, assistance, and advocacy with housing, housing rights, and legal resources
• Hair, clothing, and makeup services/supplies
• Individual counseling
• Managing emotions curriculum
• On-site childcare
• Support groups
• Transportation vouchers/reimbursements
